QR Business Card Bot

Your business card in Telegram. A QR code opens the bot, it greets people by name, tells them about you in short topics and sends you their contact.

Who it's for: For anyone who hands out business cards, wears a badge at meetups or prints flyers. Visitors can write to you directly or leave their contact so you can reach out first.

  2. Hi, Nina! ๐Ÿ‘‹ Thanks for stopping by. I'm Alex, a freelance photographer. Portraits, events and product shots.

The visitor leaves a contact for you

How it works

  • A visitor scans your QR code and presses Start
  • The bot greets them by name and shows your one-line intro
  • They pick a topic: About me, What I do or Materials, and come back for the others
  • Contact me opens your Telegram or website, or lets them leave a contact
  • They leave a name, a phone number and, if they like, what it is about
  • You get the contact in Telegram with a link to write first; they get a thank-you

Setup requirements

  • Check your card texts in the variables cardIntro, cardAbout and cardServices, and your links in cardMaterialsUrl and cardContactUrl. Links must start with https://. If About me, What I do or Materials is empty, the bot offers to talk in person instead.
  • Optional: open the Greeting step and attach your photo or logo.
  • Connect your Telegram account to FlowCastle (Settings โ†’ Notifications โ†’ Connect Telegram, or sign in with Telegram), then open your bot and press Start once. New contacts are sent there.
  • Press Deploy.
  • Make the QR code: put your bot link https://t.me/<bot username>?start=utm--qr into any QR code generator. Everyone who comes from it gets the tag "utm: qr" in Contacts. For several prints, use a different word for each (utm--badge, utm--flyer).
  • Scan the code with your phone camera, open each topic and leave a test contact. Check that it arrives in your Telegram.

Details

Good to know

  • All your card texts live in five variables: your intro line, About me, What I do, the materials link and the contact link. Change a variable and deploy; no need to touch the flow.
  • Visitors never see "not specified yet". If a topic is empty, the bot offers to talk in person and points to Contact me.
  • Links are checked before they are shown. A broken link (a bare @name, a site without https://) hides that button instead of breaking the screen.
  • Add your photo to the greeting by uploading it in the editor; a link to a page instead of a picture would stop the greeting from sending.
  • To count people who came from the QR code, add ?start=utm--qr to the link. The bot answers as usual, and those contacts get the tag "utm: qr".
  • New contacts go to the workspace owner. If the visitor has a Telegram username, the notice comes with a Write in Telegram button.
  • The name takes one tap (the bot offers the Telegram name), and the phone is sent with Telegram's own "share my phone number" button.

Common questions

  • Should the bot speak as "I" or as "we"?
  • Which topics should the card show? Rename, remove or add any.
  • Should leaving a contact also ask for an email?
  • Do you want event sign-up from the card too? Add the Event / Webinar Registration template next to it.

Keep in mind

  • Don't leave "not specified yet" texts: an empty topic should lead to Contact me.
  • Don't put a link from a variable into a button without the check; one broken link breaks the whole screen.
  • Don't attach a photo by link to the greeting; upload it in the editor instead.
  • Don't add a separate flow to tell QR visitors apart; ?start=utm--qr is enough.
  • Don't add an "I'm the owner" button or ask for your Telegram id; contacts already come to you.
