Tidio is one of the best-built website chat products on the market, and for a Shopify store that mostly needs to answer questions it is hard to beat. FlowCastle is a different shape: an automation engine that happens to have a widget on the front. Here is the honest trade-off.

TL;DR

Tidio is a support product: a good inbox, agent tooling, a solid AI answering layer, deep e-commerce integrations, and a flow builder for simple paths. FlowCastle is an automation product: the widget is the front door to a builder that calls your API, branches on the response, runs code, waits days, and hands off to a human — the same builder that runs Telegram bots with payments and subscriptions.

If your website chat mostly needs to answer, Tidio is excellent. If it needs to do something — check the order, verify the account, book the slot — that is the line where these two stop being comparable.

At a glance

Tidio prices and limits verified on tidio.com/pricing, 8 September 2026.

| | FlowCastle | Tidio |

|---|---|---|

| Free tier | 2,000 automation events/mo (≈250 conversations), unlimited contacts | 50 billable conversations/mo, 50 one-off Lyro AI conversations, 100 Flows visitors/mo |

| First paid plan | $9/mo — 7,500 events (≈900 conversations) | $24.17/mo Starter — 100 billable conversations |

| Next plan up | $29/mo — 50,000 events | From $49.17/mo Growth — from 250 conversations |

| What is billed | The interaction — one event per inbound message or button tap. First message per person free; bot replies, buttons, conditions, API calls and code count for nothing; contacts unlimited | The conversation — a button tap counts like a hard question |

| AI trained on your site | Yes, website → knowledge base import | Yes, Lyro "automatically scrapes your support content" |

| AI allowance | Billed separately: 100 credits/mo (~200 answers on a fast model), same on every plan; beyond that, a $5 / 250-credit top-up or run it on your own LLM key — both arranged with support | 50 Lyro conversations on Free and Starter; 3,000+ on Premium |

| Flow builder depth | HTTP requests with branching, variables, TypeScript blocks, waits across days, sequences, goals | Flows — by their own FAQ, "simple tasks" and "simple transactions that don't involve a lot of variables" |

| Calls your own API mid-conversation | Yes, as a node on the canvas | Limited; usually via integrations or Zapier |

| Analytics | Per-step funnel per flow, goals, conversion by source, plus Pulse: AI reads the conversations and drafts the fix | Chat volume, response time, CSAT, satisfaction reporting |

| Telegram | Yes — same flow, same contacts, same inbox | No |

| WordPress / Shopify plugin | No — script tag only | Yes, both, plus deep Shopify order data |

| Business hours, offline form, CSAT | No | Yes |

| Behaviour triggers (time on page, exit intent, URL) | No | Yes |

| Payments in the chat widget | No (Telegram only) | Via Shopify/e-commerce integration |

Where Tidio is the better choice

We would rather say this plainly than have you find it out after migrating.

  • You run a Shopify or WooCommerce store. Tidio's plugins and order-data integration are real work you would otherwise do yourself. We have no plugin in either directory — our widget is a script tag, which works, but it is not the same as an app you install in two clicks.
  • You have a support team, not a workflow. Agent seats, canned responses, assignment rules, departments, CSAT surveys and satisfaction reporting are Tidio's home ground. We have a shared live-chat inbox and handoff, and that is it.
  • You want behaviour triggers. Opening the chat after 30 seconds on the pricing page, or on exit intent, is a standard growth tactic. Tidio does it. We do not, yet.
  • You need business hours and an offline form. Tidio has both. We have neither.

Where FlowCastle is the better choice

The chat can finish the job. A visitor asks where their order is. In FlowCastle the flow asks for the order number, sends an HTTP request to your API, branches on shipped / delayed / not found, and answers with the tracking link — then tags the contact so a follow-up goes out if the delivery slips. That is four nodes on a canvas, not an integration project. Tidio's own documentation is careful about the limits of Flows here, and it is fair of them to be.

The order-lookup flow in the FlowCastle editor: an order-help menu, the order-number question, an API request, and two conditions splitting into shipped, being packed and not-found replies

Priced per interaction, not per conversation. Tidio bills the conversation, so a visitor who taps a button to read your refund policy costs the same as one with a genuinely hard question. FlowCastle counts one automation event when someone wakes the bot — a message or a button tap — and nothing the bot does in response is counted at all: replies, conditions, API calls, custom code. Each person's first message is free and contacts are unlimited. Free gives you roughly 250 conversations a month against Tidio's 50; $9 gives roughly 900 against Tidio's 100 for $24.17. Because the work inside a flow is free, the more of your chat you turn into buttons and lookups, the cheaper it gets.

AI is billed separately, and here is the honest limit. Every workspace includes 100 AI credits a month, roughly 200 answers on a fast model, and today that allowance is the same on every plan. Past it there are two routes, both arranged with our support team rather than switched on in the dashboard: top up at $5 per 250 credits, or run the AI on your own LLM provider key so those answers bill to your provider account instead. Per answer we work out around a cent; we would still rather you knew the shape of it up front.

One flow, more than one channel. The same flow serves your website widget, your Telegram bot, and email. One contact list, one inbox, one set of analytics. Tidio does not do Telegram at all.

You get told what to fix. Both products give you numbers. FlowCastle also gives you Pulse, which reads the real conversations, flags the questions the bot could not answer and the steps where people go quiet, and drafts the change.

Migration reality check

Moving from Tidio is not a button. Your flows do not transfer, your saved replies do not transfer, and if you rely on the Shopify integration you will be rebuilding that against your own API. What does transfer easily is the widget itself — one script tag — and your knowledge base, since our website import reads the same pages Lyro did.

The sane path is to run both for a week: keep Tidio answering, and put FlowCastle on one page with the one task Tidio has to escalate today.

FAQ

Is FlowCastle cheaper than Tidio?

For automation, substantially: $9/mo covers roughly 900 conversations against Tidio's 100 at $24.17, and free covers roughly 250 against their 50 — because we bill per interaction and everything the bot does in response is free. For heavy AI answering the included allowance is smaller (100 credits a month, the same on every plan), though you can top up or bring your own LLM key by asking support.

Does FlowCastle have a Shopify app?

No. The widget installs as a script tag on any site including Shopify, but there is no app listing and no automatic order data. If Shopify order lookups are the point of your chat, Tidio is the better buy today.

Can FlowCastle's AI answer from my website like Lyro?

Yes. Point the knowledge base at your site, it reads your pages, and the AI node answers from your own content in the visitor's language.

Can a human take over?

Yes, into a shared live chat inbox — the same one that holds Telegram conversations. There are no per-seat charges, but there is also none of Tidio's agent tooling: no departments, no canned responses, no CSAT.

Can visitors pay inside the chat?

Not in the website widget. Telegram Payments works in Telegram; on your site, send them to your existing checkout.
